Rude vs. More Rude

I could only actually watch this video once because the girl's giggling was just a little much for me. But I was curious to see Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez's apparent rudeness towards fans.

Basically here's the situation. The couple was at a hotel and a group of fans were gathered trying to get pictures with the Biebs. Basically they got blown off until the very end when Justin took a group picture with everyone.

Now the whole thing is blowing up on Twitter as to whether Justin and Selena have changed because of their fame and to what degree the two were being rude to their fans.

Here's my opinion: While I think it was rude of the two stars to completely ignore their fans and not take pictures when they obviously had time, I found the fans to be more rude. If I had been in Justin and Selena's shoes I probably wouldn't have taken pictures with them either. Their screaming and squealing was like the epitome of fan girling.

Here's the video. I want you to watch and tell me what you think. Were Justin and Selena being rude, or is it acceptable that they tried to ignore the fans because they were trying to have an alone moment ?

Old Nick Shows Coming Back

Word on the street is Nickelodeon is bringing back some of our favorite cartoons, including Doug, Rugrats, Angry Beavers, Rocket Power, Hey Arnold, and many others. For any 90's kid this is, of course, very exciting.

What old school Nick shows do you hope they bring back? Just saying a new All That, but not sucky like when Jamie Lynn Spears was on there, would be amazing!

This is more something Disney needs to get on top of, but all this thinking of old shows got me thinking...could we bring back some TGIF please. Even if it's just a couple of throwback made for tv movies. I wanna know what Corey and Topanga are up to! And how bout Michelle, DJ, and the whole Full House gang?

Exclusive Interview with Ready Set Go!

These band members may look young, but what they lack in age they make up for in talent. Let me introduce you, Tune Into L readers, to your new favorite band. Check out siblings Sydney, Jamie, Noah, and Graham from California who make up the band Ready Set Go!

Q- What song of yours would you recommend to someone who hasn’t  listened to your music before?
A- Already Gone the new version or Breathe In  Breathe Out. It's hard because we have a bunch of brand new songs we can't  wait to show people.

Q- Do you write all your songs? Where do you get inspiration for the songs?A- Yes, we co-write some too with our producer.  Really anything can inspire a song, but mostly relationships, school, family  life and touring has brought alot of really cool experiences to write about.  We wrote a song 3,000 miles on tour.

Q- What has been your biggest  challenge so far as musicians?A- Probably finding the right venues to book the band in. We're all under 18 so it's crazy to find places that have all  ages.

Q- What do you hope you’re accomplishing musically is  doing/accomplishing in a year?A- To finish our own record, get a record deal,  tour and play at least 100 shows by New Years eve.

Q- What has been your  favorite show to play and why?A- Oh, that's a hard one to say. They've all been so different. Probably the tour we did in North Carolina at a bunch of  schools, the kids just completly flipped out. It was like they just really got the music. It was a huge bunch of moments for us as a band!

Q- How do  you get pumped up for a show?A- Lots of snacks, joke alot and we always say a  prayer

Q- What’s your favorite and least favorite thing about  performing?
A- Our favorite thing has to be connecting with fans at shows and doing this together as as family. It's really hard to explain the feeling, but doing a show with people that just get you like a family can and at the same time experiencing fans who are singing along and going crazy to music we've created  is just so cool! Least favorite part is always the load in and out...we  got a ton of gear and it's just really heavy and tiring...but we deal!

Q- Who is someone you would like to tour with?A- Taking Back Sunday or Switchfoot or Cobra Starship

Q- Out of all the  songs you've recorded/written which is your favorite?A- Tonight We're Making's a new's so giant sounding.

Q- Do you have any advice for someone who wants to pursue a career in music?A- Just do it cause you love (it), write songs, share them with friends,  really

Q- What has been your weirdest experience with a fan?A- A girl on tour asked Jamie to sign his name on her face with permanant ink..Another girl asked Noah to sign her stomach..Sydney has a few over crazed fans that think they wanna marry her. Graham has had a bunch of young girls just scream like we've never heard

Q- Who first  inspired you to go after your dreams of music?A- Our dad. he's our producer and a really great songwriter. There's always been music around the house all day, every day since we we're born. So it's just was always fun to jam, write songs, act crazy..

Q-What’s one quote or lyric that inspires you most in one of your songs?A- In a song of ours "meant to be" we have a lyric that says  'it's ok all of us are broken"..that really means tons to us because even though we get to do all these different things and tour and stuff, we're just like  everyone else, and everyone sometimes has it really hard. we really relate to  that and think our fans do to..

Q- What’s something your fans don’t know about you?A- We all play the drums.

Q- Upcoming plans in the works for  you we should know about?A- Can't share it yet...but good stuff is coming!!!!!!

Q-Anything else you’d like to include about your music?A- we love what we get to do!

Q- If you could have one super  power what superpower would you want?A- Jamie - reading people's minds
Noah  - flying for sure!
Graham - super strength
Sydney - flying too

Q- If you could live in any fast food restaurant what would it be and why?A- CHik-  fila..that stuff is amazing!!!!

Q- What drives you to keep pushing for more?A- The fans!

New Longer version of Never Say Never to Hit Theaters Feb 25th!

Check out the press release below. I got it from here. Seriously check out that guy's review of the film and why you should see it. I couldn't say it better myself. Anyway here's the press release...enjoy!

PS Who's hoping for a snow day tomorrow?

HOLLYWOOD, CA (February 21, 2011) – Paramount’s Insurge Pictures today announced plans to release “JUSTIN BIEBER: NEVER SAY NEVER” DIRECTOR’S FAN CUT for an exclusive one-week run beginning Friday, February 25th in 3D theaters across the U.S. and Canada. In an unprecedented move, Paramount will release a revamped version of the star’s movie three-weekends following its initial release.

Tickets for the limited engagement go on-sale Tuesday, February 22nd at 5pm PST/8pm EST.
As he began the editing process several months ago, and upon realizing the significant amount of great footage he had obtained, director Jon M. Chu began to develop with the studio an idea for a second, and more fan centric, edition of the movie. While promoting the film’s initial release, he spent dozens of hours on Twitter and Facebook engaging with fans to learn more about what they were most anxious to see. Some scenes contained in the new cut include: more of Justin’s friends and hometown life, new songs and performances, and special footage shot at fan premiere’s across the country.

“I realized I had an embarrassment of riches when I was I in the cutting room,” said Chu. “This cut allows me to retain some of the best scenes from the original movie, while incorporating previously unseen footage and new material I shot during our extensive promotional tour on behalf of the movie. Justin’s dedication to his fan base is unwavering and I was inspired as a filmmaker to attempt to provide them a unique experience that showed even more of his world.”

“JUSTIN BIEBER: NEVER SAY NEVER,” which opened nationwide on February 11th to critical acclaim, earned $30 million in its initial weekend and earned an A+ Cinemascore from women (an A overall).

I Will Never Say Never To The Biebs!

Of all the people in the music industry right now I think Justin Bieber is one of the most understood and underrated by most people as a whole. For kids he's just a cute boy who makes music and for anyone over 16 he seems to be the little annoying pop star who just won't go away. Well, after this movie I gained a whole new respect for Mr.Bieber.

One thing that I really liked about this movie compared to other similar music movies (The Jonas Brothers Concert Experience, and the Hannah Montana Concert Movie) is that it was more than just a concert movie. The concert footage was carefully woven in with bits and pieces about Justin's past, his journey to achieving his dream, and his day to day life now that he's an international super star. It was really interesting to see where the kid came from. Prior to this movie I wasn't really sure if I actually liked the kid, but afterwards I really decided that he's just an extremely talented boy trying to find his way in the music world.

I really liked how this movie really showed a lot of what goes into the everyday life of a pop star. The movie allows viewers to see the show from all aspects and view certain aspects that they otherwise wouldn't have seen.

Of all the things this movie did the fact that it made Justin seem even more like a real teenage boy- like a kid you might have went to school with. The human aspect really made me like the kid even more and made him so much more relatable. I realized that he's working hard and following his dreams just like I am.

I know that everyone is saying this, but even if you're not a Bieber fan you should definitely take the time to see this movie. Even if you bootleg it offline from somewhere. You'll definitely walk away from this film feeling inspired and awed.

For those of you who still don't think he's talented. Watch this cover and TRY to prove me wrong.

Visuals vs. Vocals

Like almost everyone else I just watched the Super Bowl half time show starring the Black Eyed Peas with random appearances by Slash and Usher. A full review will come soon, but it made me really think about something.

I've been to a lot of concerts. Some have been amazing. Some not so much. Some were visually boring, but vocally and musically amazing and vice versa.

To me, that half time show was visually amazing and vocally just not so much. The lights, the sparkles, and all the choreographed dancing was spectacular. To think of all the work that went in to choreographing that show is crazy. The music, however, was just kind of blah. Fergie was a little off and absolutely butchered GNR. But still to have have seen that live would have been amazing.

So here's what I want your opinion on...What matters more in a performance the vocals or the visuals? Does an amazing visual performance make up for horrible vocals & musical performance or are both important for a great performance?

Justin and Selena Go Official

Pictures surfaced of the Biebs and Selena holding hands in a way that suggests that they are definitely more than friends. I'm just gonna be honest. They are adorable together. Haters be hatin, but you can deny that they're a cute couple.

The Frustrators

Who knew Green Day's Mike Dirnt had another band? Not me!

His band The Frustrators is getting together for their first tour in eight years and their new release in nine years!

Don't know much about the band? Read on...

The band is comprised of Jason Chandler (vocals, artwork), Terry Linehan (guitar, backing vocals) and Art Tedeschi (drums), and Cali-raised fourth man and Mike Dirnt (bassist).

Direct from the Press Release:

The guys first met Dirnt on the West Coast while travelling with their other bands (Hope Anchor, Waterdog, etc) the newly allied foursome wasted no time knocking out their inaugural, riotous Bored in the USAEP in 2000 and its follow-up full-length, 2002’s poppier Achtung Jackass.

Fast forward a veritable generation, and it’s been nine long years since Dirnt and the Frustrators have found room in their collective schedules to plug back in for a round of insurgent power chords and gleefully adolescent punk-pranksterism, resulting in 2011’s charged-up Griller EP. Not that there was ever consideration of carrying on without their rhythm-setting four-stringer during the intervening years.

“I don’t think it would be something we’d be comfortable doing without Mike,” says Linehan. “He’s a big part of what makes us tick. It wouldn’t be the same, and would be probably a disappointment to the kids who come out to see us if he wasn’t there.”

Consistent with that consideration for their patient, loyal audience, Griller won’t alienate the group’s core fans. Its quartet of tidy gems clock in at around a dozen minutes, and bring to mind Bay Area peers like American Steel and scratchy ‘90s melody makers Jawbreaker (whom Linehan also cites as a personal influence). The EP’s furthest sonic experimentation might be the languid, reverb-y surf licks on “West of Texas (Part 2),” a sequel of sorts to Achtung Jackass’ “Part 1” that wouldn’t sound out of place on a Hoodoo Gurus record.

But these guys aren’t kids anymore. Outside of having a goof with their fans via meta-breakup closer “We Need to Talk (It’s Not You, It’s Us”) or recalling Achtung Jackass’ Cars cover by tackling the The Neighborhoods’ teen-longing anthem “Prettiest Girl,” there are flashes of genuine, introspective struggle in Griller’s lyric sheet. On “Stigma,” a jangly powder-keg of an album opener and closest the Frustrators get to a love song, Chandler tries to “Walk away from your attack/Dodging bullets but she just keeps coming back,” before giving up and urging, “Lightning strike me where I stand/You put my heart in rehab and I haven’t got a plan.”

“We definitely don’t overthink or overstress it, but there’s gotta be the creative element,” explains Linehan about picking up where Achtung Jackass left off. “If we just wanted to get together and have beers and play music, that wouldn’t take as much arranging as getting together to record. We always want to better ourselves, and I feel like the new batch of songs was actually worth getting together to record and put out.”

It is, of course, all about the songs. And Dirnt’s signature, concentric bass lines will ring with immediacy to new and incoming Frustrators fans alike. But Griller, and the Frustators as a whole, represents the cohesive sum of Dirnt and Tedeschi’s sturdy rhythmic foundation supporting Chandler’s tune-carrying, self-assured vocals and Linehan’s proto-punk thrust on guitar. Griller is pop-punk without the polish, pretense or preening, and exactly the kind of de-glammed, good-spirited experience music needs in 2011.

“It has all the elements that make the Frustrators the Frustrators,” Linehan confirms. “It has a pop sensibility and is a little bit outside of the punk confines. We’ve all matured as musicians and songwriters. Any time any of us record we want it to be the best that we can be.” And as for whether that involves striving toward the standard of Dirnt’s other, more famous band, Linehan laughs and confesses, “The bar’s pretty high. We’re not trying to jump over the bar or just shimmy under it. But we at least want to be five feet under looking up at it.”

For you lucky West Coasters you can see this awesome punk band in action. Check out the tour poster below.
