Dancing Crazy With Miranda Cosgrove

By: Lauren Miller

Usually I'm not a very lucky person. But lately my luck with contests seems to have changed *knock on wood*.

For those who don't know I love iCarly. Like legit I watch this show every day. Further, of course, I love the stars of iCarly. When I found out that Miranda was coming back to a place that was within driving distance I knew I had to go. But since I'm trying to save money to move to Nashville I was in a pickle. I took a chance and entered this Facebook and Twitter contest she's having where she gives away two sets of ticket for every show.

I never thought I'd win, but as Justin says, Never Say Never. The problem was that I won the tickets only two days in advance so I couldn't get off work for the show. Since I worked until 7, the venue is an  hour and a half from my work, and the show was from 7:30-9:45 my odds weren't looking good for being able to see the show. I decided to take a chance any way and I figured if I only got to see 5 songs at least they were free and I could say I saw Miranda. That's basically what happend.

As my friend and I walked into the venue Miranda was belting out her song "Shakespeare" (one of the songs from iCarly). As we made our way through the sea of 8 year olds we entered a familiar world of pre teen girls who's biggest care was who made the cover of PopStar magazine.

Although Miranda might not be the best vocalist I've ever seen, but that doesn't mean the show doesn't deserve props. From the lights to the sparkly bright clothes to the awesome graphics Miranda's show was like a burst of cotton candy goodness for my eyes and ears. Out of all the preteen oriented artists I've seen her show was definitely the most cute and age appropriate. She really stuck to the idea that most of her audience is under the age of 15, but at the same time her show wasn't so fluffy that the parents and older fans were turned off.

Overall I would definitely recomend Miranda's Dancing Crazy tour for anyone who's a fan of Nick or Disney and a good, old fashioned, classic pop show. And if you have Facebook or Twitter I highly recomend checking out her contest to win tickets.

Free Music Friday

Perfect Summer Mix Tape
By: Lauren Miller

I don't know about you, but this super hot, summer east coast weather puts me in a weird mood musically. Don't get me wrong I still like my teeny bopper Pop Music and my weird Alternative Rock, but something about summer just puts me in an acoustic, guitar & voice, simple song kind of mood.

If you're like me and like this kind of music (either for your weird, hot weather induced mood OR you just generally like Jason Mraz-y type music) this kid is for you!

Trevor Dahl is the curly haired kid that makes up Plug in Stereo. At only 18 years old this kid knows how to pick a guitar.

According to his Facebook page "Music has always been a big part of my life,” says Dahl. “Ever since I started playing guitar, I’ve only ever wanted to play music.”

Right now you can check out and download a FREE mix tape from Dahl featuring covers from Taylor Swift, Zac Brown Band, Little Wayne, and Tracy Chapman.

Check out the mix tape here and let me know what you think of this 18 year old cutie wonderkin!

Run For Cover Records Signs The Tower and The Fool

Providence, RI band The Tower and The Fool was recently signed to Run for Cover records.

The band originally started as a songwriting project for two friends Alex Correia and Chris Rosenquest. Once they realized they had something the friends added drummer/producer/friend Mike Poorman (Hot Rod Circuit), Jon Tucker on bass, Zac Clark on keys, and long time friend Chris Capaldi on lead and slide guitars.

According to the press release the band's sound is "Twangy guitars, warm organ swells and a steady Americana backbeat swirl together behind the duo’s acoustic guitars and raspy lovelorn confessionals, calling to mind alt-country staples like Ryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen and Wilco."

The Tower and The Fool will release their Run For Cover debut, XIII, this September on 7” vinyl and digital formats.

Always Patsy Cline Live from the Ryman

Disney Animation Panel

One of the benefits of always being on the computer is I always know what's going on- in the DC/MD and occasionally Philly, anyway. This "gift" came in handy this week when my friends and I found out about a hughly UNpublicized Disney Animation Panel at the National Press Club which included appearances by Chelsea Kane, Alyson Stoner, Kyle Massey and other Disney executives including the creators of Phineas and Ferb and Fish Hooks.

The panel discussion started at 7 pm and began with a short introduction about Disney animation and where that animation is going in the future. Which included a preview of three new Disney Channel shows.

Check out these picture previews of the shows:

After that the people from Fish Hooks took the stage to talk about their show. They talked about the creative process from creating the actual show to the voice acting involved in bringing Milo, Oscar and Bea to life. Then the stars acted out a scene from the show.

Then the cast of Phineas and Ferb took the places of the Fish Hooks stars and they talked about the same topics with regards to the production of their Disney Channel hit and they introduced themselves in their character voices.

The final event of the night, before the short, free for all meet and greet, was a Q&A session with the panel. Seeing as most of the audience was made up of children most of the questions were super cute.

During the quick meet and greet I b lined for Chelsea Kane. She was just as sweet as she seems on tv. Once I had her for the m&g of course I kept her for myself for a little longer and got a regular and a funny picture taken with her.

Overall the night was the best $12 I've ever spent! I even ended up meeting Constantine Maroulis outside the theater where Rock of Ages was playing in DC.

Check out the pictures & videos from the event below.

AND I just so happened to pick up a few extra goodie bags from the event and I have one to give away to a very lucky Tune Into L reader. To enter leave a comment below with an email we can contact you at and tell us what your favorite animated series or movie is. For an additional entry you can tag us in a tweet about this contest. All entries must be received by July 31st. Winners will be announced on or around August 1st.

Camel Toes Vs. Penal Thrusts

In the beginning of the summer I had the opportunity to see one of my favorite artists Ashlyne Huff open up for the New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys on their comeback summer tour. This was a cool opportunity for her because it was her first big tour and it was so surreal for me to see this artist who I saw play tiny club stages just a year before performing in giant, sold out stadiums. Everyone, however, wasn’t this enthusiastic about her position as opening act.
Being one of Ashlyne’s street team leaders I like to search her name and @replies on Twitter to find positive things people say about her to retweet. During tour I spent a lot of nights commanding these searches. More often than not I found extremely negative things. People called her a “talentless twat” and criticized her leotard calling her the girl who forgot her pants. Someone even called her out for having a camel toe.
While these comments made me sad, they also sparked a little contemplation. Why were all these girls (most of NKOTBSB’s fans are female) so critical of Ashlyne’s mildly provocative dance moves and outfits, but not critical of NKOTBSB’s sexually suggestive dance moves and lyrics? If the New Kids and Backstreet Boys had been two bands of girls and Ashlyne had been a boy, would the female performers still have been sluts and the male performers still have been “sexy”?
That seems to be the curious thing about the music business, sexuality that is. It’s such a double edged sword. Men just step up on stage and play a guitar or sing lyrics they didn’t even write and women swoon and throw their panties at their dream boats. Then woman steps up on stage singing her own songs and playing the same guitar in skinny jeans and a t-shirt and she’s “not quite as talented.” Or she shows up singing her songs and dancing her own choreo in a leotard and “she’s trying too hard to be Britney (or Gaga or Madonna), who does she think she is?”
When will we as music consumers begin to judge artists with the same rules no matter what gender he or she is? When we will as music consumers accept artists for who they are and base our opinions of them on their musical abilities rather than surface features?

And seriously can someone explain to me the difference between

This

And This?

Letters to Swift

On August 6th I will be going to my first (yay!) Taylor Swift concert. My friends and I have made it our mission to meet Taylor Swift that day. Be ready for tons of pictures and videos documenting our adventures.

So what does this have to do with you? Well, I want to give all of my dedicated readers a chance to be involved in a project for Taylor. Basically we are planning on giving Taylor a scrapbook filled with letters,  notes and pictures from her fans. I promise Taylor will be getting this book!

If you want to participate all you have to do is send your letter and any pictures you want included in the scrapbook to tuneintol@gmail.com with "Letters to Swift" in the subject line. All submissions must be received by Thursday August 4th at noon although earlier would be nice.

If you have friends who are Taylor friends feel free to pass along the info for this project!

We can't wait to read your submissions & give them to Taylor!

Demi's Back, Back Again

Over the weekend Demi Lovato took to the internet to officially announce her comeback. On July 19th Lovatics can get high with the star's new song Skyscraper.

Various sources  even posted a few supposed lyrics to her soon to be new hit. Whether they are the real lyrics or not has yet to be determined. I guess we'll justt have to wait and see on the 19th!

It’s been kinda tough
Running around in circles
Tryin’ to find who I was
But now I know
I found myself
It’s been kinda tough
Running around in circles
Tryin’ to find who I was
But now I know
I found myself
In the sky today
Don’t get in my way!
Don’t ever try to tear me down
I will be risin’ from the ground
Like a skyscraper
Don’t wanna make the same mistakes
Ya’ll better start listenin’
Like a skyscraper I’m a new building
I’m a new building
I’m a new building
Skyscraper baby

Who's excited for Demi's comeback? Let us know what you think below!
